Description

ARTIFACT:

This is a fantastic circa World War II submarine letter opener made at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard in Portsmouth, NH/Kittery, ME. The blade and the body of the sub detail are copper: the conning tower and ballast tanks are in brass. Some of the details of the totally three-dimensional submarine include portholes and a tiny deck gun!

VINTAGE:

Circa World War II.

SIZE:

Approximately 15/16" in width (at top of blade) and 10" in length.

CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:

Copper, brass.

Handle.
