Description

ARTIFACT:

This is an extremely cool World War II submarine letter opener made at Portsmouth Naval Shipyard (Portsmouth, New Hampshire/Kittery, Maine). The opener is nearly three-dimensional and is in brass except for a Monel periscope.

VINTAGE:

Circa World War II.

SIZE:

Approximately 3/8" in thickness, 7/8" in width (at blade) and 7-3/4" in length.

CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:

Brass, Monel.
