Description
This is a fabulous, heavy and huge circa 1930s engine nose plaque for the Baltimore & Ohio (B&O) Railroad. Started in 1830, the B&O was an effort by the port city of Baltimore to open up routes to the west rivaling the Erie Canal. The B&O eventually also ran from Baltimore to Washington, D.C. The plaque is in black and gold painted bronze and shows the dome of the United States Capitol in relief.
VINTAGE:Circa 1930s.
SIZE:Approximately 16" in diameter and ¼" in thickness.
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Painted bronze.
ATTACHMENT:Eight holes.
