ARTIFACT: This is a fabulous, heavy and huge circa 1930s engine nose plaque for the Baltimore & Ohio (B&O) Railroad. Started in 1830, the B&O was an effort by the port city of Baltimore to open up routes to the west rivaling the Erie Canal. The B&O eventually also ran from Baltimore to Washington, D.C. The plaque is in black and gold painted bronze and shows the dome of the United States Capitol in relief.

VINTAGE: Circa 1930s.

SIZE: Approximately 16" in diameter and ¼" in thickness.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Painted bronze.

ATTACHMENT: Eight holes.

MARKINGS: None.
