Fabulous 1880's "Dep" Deputy City Marshal Ball Tip 6 Point Star Badge

This is a Fabulous circa 1880's Deputy "Dep" City Marshal 6 point Ball Tip Star Badge. Solid ball tips were individually applied to this beautifully embellished hand stamped nickel plated nickel badge, that started its life as a full City Marshal badge. The at some point not long after its manufacturer, apparently the city where this was being worn had need for a DEPUTY City Marshal badge, so a local jeweler neatly engraved "Dep" in front of the word City! A unique Old West badge, that I only wish could talk to tell us its story! 

Circa 1880's.

Approximately 2-5/8" in height x 2-3/8" in width.

Nicekl plated nickel badge body, nickel plated brass ball tips and pin.

Vertical safety style pin with rectangular saddle.
