Description
This is an extremely rare 1930s submarine commissioning model for the USS Squalus (SS-192). The Squalus was launched from Portsmouth Naval Ship Yard on September 14th, 1938 and sunk off Rye, NH on May 23, 1939 during a test dive. A rescue effort on May 24-25 saved 33 crewmen. The ship was then decommissioned that November and recommissioned as the USS Sailfish SS-192.
VINTAGE:Circa 1930s.
SIZE:Approximately 2-1/8" in height, 7-3/8" in length and 1-7/8" in diameter.
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Nickel-plated brass with painted lettering.
ATTACHMENT:Model screwed into base.

CONDITION:8 (Excellent-): The model has very light wear with periscope and deck gun intact.
