Description

ARTIFACT:

This is an extremely rare 1930s United States Air Corps pair of marked sunglasses in their original hinged case, named to Captain Sam Wilkins Westbrook. The glasses are bendable at center and read USAC on the bridge-piece. The arms are wrapped in beautiful leather.

VINTAGE:

Circa 1930s.

SIZE:

Case has approximately 2-11/16" height and 6" width and 3/4" depth; length from lens to end of arm is approximately 3-7/8" .

CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:

Case: twill-lined painted metal; sunglasses: leather-wrapped wire arms, brass details and tinted glass lenses.

ATTACHMENT:

Glasses have looped arms.

MARKINGS:

USAC on bridge-piece.

CONDITION:

8 (Excellent): Case has some spots of wear; glasses have some light wear to leather but very little wear to lenses.
