ARTIFACT: This is an extremely rare copy of the album "LZ-127 Graf Zeppelin: nach 15 Originalphotographien vom Bau des Luftschiffes" that comes with its original cover. This was compiled to commemorate the round-the-world flight of the German airship LZ-127 "Graf Zeppelin", a craft named after the country's airship pioneer, Count (Graf) Ferdinand von Zeppelin. The album contains sixteen oversized leaves, and all but one has a full-size black-and-white photograph of the construction of the airship, including one of the Count. The cover page lists the airship's specifications. The ship flew passenger flights starting in 1928 and ventured on many routes, including to the Arctic. LZ-127 operated until 1937, the year of the loss of its fellow airship Hindenburg. The round-the-world flight took place in 1929.

VINTAGE: Published circa 1929-1930.

SIZE: 16 sheets; approximately 12-1/2" in height and 9-1/2" in width.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Cloth-bound cover, card stock paper, oaktag cover (folder).

MARKINGS: Stamp inside cover: Zur Erinnerung an die Rückkehr des Luftschiffes Graf Zeppelin von der Weltreise (In commemoration of the round-the-world flight of the Graf Zeppelin); Graph. Kunst-u. Verlagsanstatt A. Weber & Co. Stuttgart.
