ARTIFACT: This is an extremely rare World War I United States Air service enlisted pilot overseas photos and insignia grouping originally belonging to Percy Glenn Willbanks, who was born February 1, 1900. The grouping includes two insignia, three patches, several photographs and a great flight helmet. One of the photos shows Willbanks in his helmet, and another shows a road in France in 1918 with an AVIATION MILITAIRE sign above its gate and a military vehicle out front.

VINTAGE: Circa World War I.

SIZE: Items are of various sizes.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Insignia: one silver with brass pin, one copper-plated brass: helmet: leather, wool, brass; patches: wool embroidered in wool/cotton thread; remaining items are made of expected materials.

ATTACHMENT: Insignia: horizontal T-style pin with C catch, single screw post with disc backing; helmet: buckle, snaps.

MARKINGS: Insignia: silver mark on side of catch; helmet: P.J.W. 2nd AOC written inside; 3 photo: FRANCE 1918 written on back; one photo: DURING AMERICAN ACTION 1918; one photo: THE AMERICAN PHOTO STUDIO 34 MAIN STREET HEMSTEAD, L.I.; another photo: TO NELLIE FROM PERCY 1919.

CONDITION: 7+ (Very Fine+): The items are in various conditions but overall are very fine. The helmet is very supple, and most of the photos are in nice shape.
