ARTIFACT:

This is an early World War II American Field Service sterling silver cap badge made in the United States. The badge shows an eagle with a crest of stars and stripes and reads AMERICAN FIELD SERVICE. The members of the American Field Service were volunteer ambulance drivers who rescued wounded soldiers in different regions, including North Africa.

VINTAGE:

Circa early World War II.

SIZE:

13/16" height and 1-5/8" width.

CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:

Sterling silver.

ATTACHMENT:

Horizontal pin with come-under swivel catch.

MARKINGS:

STERLING.
