This is an early World War II American Field Service hat badge locally-made in North Africa or Egypt. The badge shows an eagle with a crest of stars and stripes and reads AMERICAN FIELD SERVICE. The members of the American Field Service were volunteer ambulance drivers who rescued wounded soldiers in different regions, including North Africa.
VINTAGE:Circa early World War II.
SIZE:1-1/4" height and 2-3/4" width.
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Plated brass.
ATTACHMENT:Horizontal pin with safety-style catch.
