Description

ARTIFACT:

This is an early war (1943) first die type Polish Combat Observer badge by J. R Gaunt of London. This piece was made in the UK during the war for the 'Polish Air Force in Exile', and is well marked, showing actual wear and use. The first Die Type, that cracked in 43 before the new 1944 pattern badges came out and new dies were made. The badge shows an eagle holding lightning bolts in its talons and a wreath in its beak.
