Description
This is a circa 1943 first die type Polish Air Force in Exile observer badge made by J. R. Gaunt of London. This piece was made in the UK during the war for the 'Polish Air Force in Exile' and is well marked. It is in the first die type, which cracked in 1943 before the new 1944 pattern badges came out and new dies were made. The badge shows an eagle holding lightning bolts in its talons and a wreath in its beak.
VINTAGE:Circa 1943.
SIZE:Approximately 1-1/2" in height x 2-1/2" in length; chain drop: 1-1/2".
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Brass.
ATTACHMENT:Single screw post with backing, chain with hook hanger.
