Description

ARTIFACT:

Early example, circa 1941 of the American Red Cross General Service pin designed by artist, Malvina Hoffman. The enameled brass badge features a red, white, and blue shield with a red cross in the center against a white background, surrounded by a blue border. The top of the shield features an eagle, his wings open and draped along the sides of the shield which reads: "SERVICE" along the top.

Circa 1941

SIZE:

Approximately 15/16" x 1-1/16".

CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:

Enameled, gilt brass

ATTACHMENT:

Horizontal pin with drop in locking swivel catch
