ARTIFACT: Early, circa 1870's Hamburg – Amerika Line steamship souvenir pin. The exquisitely detailed pin shows two enameled flags crossed with a copper anchor bearing a brass steering wheel centered between them and with a lovely rope/chain embellishment. The Hamburg – Amerika Line was a transatlantic German shipping company established in 1847. The company's full name, in German, is Hamburg Amerikanische Paketfahrt Aktien-Gesellschaft (HAPAG) and it was at one time, the world's largest shipping company.

VINTAGE: Circa 1870's

SIZE: Approximately 1-3/16" x 1-3/4"

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Enamel, copper, brass

ATTACHMENT: Horizontal pin with scrolling 'C' catch

MARKINGS: None.

ITEM NOTES: This is from an ocean liner and nautical collection which we will be listing more of over the next few months. VBJM16 LAGEX7/16

CONDITION: 9- (Excellent+): The pin shows minor to moderate wear, nearly all of the enamel and gilt brass details remain intact, overall excellent condition.
