ARTIFACT:
This is a circa early 1960s jacket patch for the United States Air Force 456th Strategic Aerospace Wing. The 456th was activated in 1962 and flew B-52s out of Beale Air Force Base in California. The squadron also operated inter-continental ballistic missiles (ICBMs). The patch shows a boomerang-like symbol, an atomic symbol and a plant in front of a thunderbolt.
VINTAGE:
Circa early 1960s.
SIZE:
Approximately 4-1/8" in height and 3-3/4" in width.
MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION:
Fully embroidered in cotton/polyester/silk threads.
