Description

ARTIFACT:

This is a circa early 1950s (Korean War era) United States Air Force 525th Fighter-Bomber Squadron jacket patch that once belonged to Staff Sergeant Rawlin P. Wieder. The 525th was part of the 86th Fighter-Bomber Group and flew F-84s as well as F-86B/C aircraft. The patch was embroidered in Germany in silk upon multi-piece felt and shows a black eagle-shaped plane sailing through the clouds. The patch comes with three small period photos and Wieder's honorable discharge.

VINTAGE:

Circa early 1950s (Korean War).

SIZE:

Approximately 4-7/8" in diameter.

CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:

Multi-piece felt embroidered in silk; paper; photographs.
