Description

ARTIFACT:

This is a nice US made jacket patch for the 101st Fighter Squadron, depicting a bold green shamrock with a curving green wing coming out of it, all bordered in white. Hmm, perhaps they were the official squadron of the Boston Celtics at the time? This scarce patch was used for a short while in the mid to late 1950's before the unit reverted back to the Seagull patch which it had used since inception as an Observation Squadron in the 1920s. The squadron was actually a part of the Massachusetts Air National Guard as part of the Air Defense Command at the time it used this patch. A rare short-lived FIS patch.
