ARTIFACT:
Circa 1945 United States Air Force 539th Fighter – Interceptor Squadron jacket patch. The squadron flew the F-86 aircraft out of Stewart Air Field Base in New York. The patch depicts a winged arm thrust through a cloud and crushing an aircraft. The cloud has lightning bolts on both sides and the blue sky background features the arms of a clock and the Roman numerals: "III, VI, IX, and XII.

Approximately 4-5/8" x 4-7/8"
MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION:
Embroidered canvas, cotton/silk/polyester threads with gauze backing

To be sewn on.
