ARTIFACT: This is a Civil War era German import Model 1840 United States Army Cavalry saber by Rohrig & Co., with proper markings on the back of the blade. The brass guard is slightly misshapen, and there are some nicks in the blade. Most of the leather remains on the wrapped handle with about 25% of the wire wrap remaining. This is a good example for any collection of a sword that most likely saw use in the Civil War.

VINTAGE: Circa Civil War.

SIZE: Overall: approximately 43" in length and 4-1/2" in width; blade only: 36" x 1-1/8" (at widest point); scabbard: 37-1/2".

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Steel, brass, wire, leather.

ATTACHMENT: Suspension rings on scabbard.

MARKINGS: R&C (Rohrig & Co.) on edge of sword.

ITEM NOTES: This is from a United States Army collection which we will be listing more of over the next few months. MCJJX12 LEIEX4/12 SDEJX2/13

CONDITION: 6 (Fine+): The blade has some spots of damage along the edge (see photo), and there is some tarnishing to the brass. The scabbard has scattered spots of darkening.

GUARANTEE: As with all my artifacts, this piece is guaranteed to be original, as described.
