Description
This is a Civil War era United States Navy shaving soap kit with its original mirror and brass suspension ring. The two piece kit is made of gutta percha, an early resin made from walnut shells. The cover is nicely grooved in a radial pattern and at its center reads DON'T GIVE UP THE SHIP.
VINTAGE:Circa Civil War.
SIZE:Approximately 1-9/16" in height and 3-1/8" in diameter.
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Gutta percha (resin made from walnut shells), mirror glass, brass.
ATTACHMENT:Brass suspension ring.
MARKINGS:None.
