Description

ARTIFACT:

This is a circa 1972 patch used by both the United States Air Force and the United States Navy for "Operation Linebacker". Both the 7th Air Force and the 77th Task Force participated in the nearly six-month long air campaign against The Republic of North Vietnam. "Linebacker" was the first continuous bombing maneuver to resume against North Vietnam after President johnson's 1968 interdiction of such activity. The patch is Thai-made and embroidered upon black twill. It shows some aircraft circling over rivers and a central target.

VINTAGE:

Circa late 1972 (Vietnam War).

SIZE:

Approximately 3-1/2" in height and 3-1/4" in width.

CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:

Twill embroidered in cotton/silk threads, mesh backing.
