ARTIFACT: This is a scarce circa 1935-1936 donation tinnie for Gau Essen WHW, or Winterhilfswerk (Winter Help Work). The tinnie reads Dank Dem Helfer Gau Essen WhW 1935-36 along its border and has an upright sword crossed by two hammers at its center. The tinnie is by Hoffstätter of Bonn. The Nationalsozialistische Volkswohlfahrt (National Socialist People's Welfare Organization) had the WHW yearly as a campaign to assist the less fortunate, and the slogan was "None Shall Starve or Freeze".

VINTAGE: Circa 1935-1936.

SIZE: Approximately 1-1/16" in diameter.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Aluminum.

ATTACHMENT: Horizontal safety-style pin.

MARKINGS: HOFFSTÄTTER BONN.

ITEM NOTES: This is from a Nazi Germany collection which we will be listing more of over the next few months. MAJL95 LDEX12/12

CONDITION: 7 (Very Fine): The badge has some areas of light to medium wear.
