Description
This is a circa 1930 "Wichita Air Capitol" lapel wing. Wichita was home base to many aircraft/aviation-related companies, including Raytheon, Boeing and Cessna, and earned the "Air Capitol" moniker in 192The usage of the word "capitol" was later correctly amended to "capital": it's not certain if it had been a mistake or if the word was consciously selected to mimic the significance of the U.S. Capitol to show that Wichita was "the" venue for a meeting of important aviation minds. In any case, the spelling of the word helps to date this as an early pin.
