Description
This is a beautiful circa 1900 gold and enamel Olympic Men's Club Bantam Weight second prize medal. Future heravyweight boxing champion James J. Corbett began attending the San Francisco club in 1884 and was an instructor there after his six-year winning streak. The medal was made by Hammersmith & Field, who were in business from 1899 to 1908.
VINTAGE:Circa 1900.
SIZE:About 1-5/8" in width by 2-13/16" in height.
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Tested 14 karat gold with rose-gold and yellow gold detail in center and enamel accents (weighs 13.7 Pennyweights).
ATTACHMENT:Horizontal pin with a "C" catch.
