ARTIFACT: This is a circa 1895-1896 Massachusetts Volunteer Militia (MVM) sharpshooter medal. In 1917, the MVM became the Massachusetts State Guard. The medal is in gilt bronze, and has two bars, one from each of the years 1895 and 1896. The medallion shows a soldier on his belly with a rifle in relief.

VINTAGE: Circa 1895-1896.

SIZE: Approximately 2-1/2" in height and 1-3/16" in width.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Gilt bronze.

ATTACHMENT: Horizontal T pin with partially sleeved catch, chain links.

CONDITION: 7+ (Very Fine+): The medal has some small areas of light to medium wear, mostly to the reverse.
