Description
This is a cased German Cross in Gold, which is maker-marked 20 for C. F. Zimmermann in Pforzheim. This German Cross is pictured in Detlev Niemann's Berwertungs-Katalog Deutschland (Price Guide Germany) Volume The German Cross in Gold has a gold-colored wreath around a swastika at its center. It was an award for bravery by members of the military which ranks just above the Iron Cross 1st Class but just below the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross.
VINTAGE:Circa World War II.
SIZE:Approximately 2-7/16" in height and 2-7/16" in width; case: 4-3/16" square and 1-1/16" in depth.
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Plated brass with enamel, silk and velvet lined cardboard case.
ATTACHMENT:Vertical T-style pin with C catch; case: hinged with catch lock.
