ARTIFACT:

Odd, WWI Iron Cross with unique ribbon. Maker marked "MFH". Originally a Prussian decoration, the Iron Cross was later reinstituted by Hitler. The award was conferred for bravery in action and other meritorious military acts, and the 2nd class version hangs usually from a ribbon whereas the 1st class does not.

Circa WWI.

SIZE:

Approximately 1 11/16" x 4 10/16"

CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:

Plated brass/tombak frame with steel center, silk ribbon.

ATTACHMENT:

Suspension ring.

7 (Very Fine): The Iron Cross has some light to medium wear and tarnish; ribbon is present small spot of separation and light soiling.
