ARTIFACT: This is a group of framed United States Army Special Forces insignia that are stapled to a piece of paper with typewritten captions for each. The patch from the Training Group Special Force is white and was used from 1962-1972; the 1st Special Service Force (aka Devil's Brigade") patch is green with two crossed arrows in gold and was used before 1965; the 1st Group Special Service Force patch is gold trimmed in blue and was used only in 1963 (top picture); the 3rd Group Special Service Force patch is split in four quadrants of gold, red, white and black and was used from 1963-1969; the 5th Group Special Service Group patch is black bordered by white ad was used from 1962-1964; the 6th Group Special Service Force patch is red and black with a diagonal white stripe and was used from 1963-1971; the 77th Special Service Force patch is a gold sword crossed by three lightning bolts against blue and was used around 1963; the 7th Group Special Service Force is entirely red and has been used since 1961; the 8th Group Special Service Force patch is gold and blue and was used form 1963-1972; the Aviation Group Special Service Force patch is orange with a diagonal blue stripe and was used form 1962-1968; the Reserve Group Special Service Force patch is blue outlined in white and was used from 1961-1966. The grouping also includes an AIRBORNE tab in black and gold. Black frame included but not pictured.

VINTAGE: Circa 1963.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: All except for one are fully-embroidered with cotton/silk threads (1st Special Service Force insignia is twill embroidered with cotton/silk threads).
