Ca 1960 Japanese-Made US Navy USS Ronquil SS-396 Patch

This is a patch for the United States Navy's USS Ronquil SS-39The Ronquil is the submarine shown in the famous 1968 Cold War John Sturges movie, "Ice Station Zebra", starring Rock Hudson, Patrick McGoohan and Ernest Borgnine. The movie's fictional submarine was named the "Tigerfish". The patch is shaped like a crest and shows a fish armed with missiles against a field or red and white stripes.

Circa 1950s.

5-1/4" height and 4-3/4" width.

Fully embroidered patch in multi-colored silk/cotton threads and muslin backing.
