Circa 1910 Women's Suffrage American Woman's League founder's chapter lapel badge. The American Woman's League was founded in 1908 by Edward Gardner Lewis to promote feminist causes. In addition to a large focus on the women's suffrage movement, the League also was intended to assist Lewis in the sale and distribution of his women's magazine. The oval badge features a seated woman who appears to have her arms around children, as to protect them and has a book in her lap. The outer edge reads: "AMERICAN WOMAN'S LEAGUE FOUNDER'S CHAPTER" and the reverse reads: "THE GREENDUCK CO. CHICAGO".
