ARTIFACT: This wonderful grouping of three badges from the historic Amogerone Fire Company No. 1 of Greenwich, CT. The grouping consists of an 1890s or perhaps even 1880s lapel pin for the company showing an Indian head in full headdress inside a length of curled fire hose with "AMOGERONE" engraved on the hose and filled with jeweler's black. The Indian Head is actually cut from a US Indian Head cent! Next, is a gilt brass badge for the Fire Company, with the number "1" in the panel at bottom. With the color of the badge and the number, one can assume this was the "Chief" or as Companies such as this often called the head of their organization, the "President's" badge. This badge was possibly handed down to the recipient of the 3rd and final badge in the grouping: the "Ex-President" badge. It is a "suspension" type badge with a gilt badge similar to the early lapel badge suspended from a bar reading "EX-PRESIDENT". On the back of this badge is engraved: FRED D. BARRETT >>1929-54<<.

VINTAGE: Circa 1880s-1890s through 1950s.

SIZE: Badge: About 1-7/8" in width by 1-7/8" in height. Ex-President Pin: About 1" in width by 1-1/2" in height. Lapel Pin: About 3/4" in width by 7/8" in height.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Badge: Gold-plated stamped nickel. Ex-President Pin: Gold-plated silver with black paint and multi-colored enamel. Lapel Pin: Silver with copper and black paint.
