BEING RESEARCHED - Embroidered Rank (?) with Gold Circle Insignia - NOT FOR SALE UNTIL IDed

This is an unidentified World War II insignia, possibly a rank, on olive drab wool. There is a golden circle embroidered at its center.

Circa World War II.

Approximately 1-1/16" in height and 1-5/16" in width.

Wool embroidered in cotton/silk threads, muslin strips.

Horizontal safety pin.

None.

8- (Very Fine-Excellent): The badge shows some light wear and some small areas of light discoloration along the edge of the circle.
