ARTIFACT: This is a beautiful railroad engineer shaving mug showing a painted railway scene and the engineer's name: J. C. Stahl. The lip of the mug, handle and frame of the scene are detailed in gilt paint.

VINTAGE: Circa 1880s-1890s.

SIZE: 3-7/8" height and 3-3/4" diameter at base.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Painted ceramic.

ATTACHMENT: Mug handle.

MARKINGS: A. KERN B.B. CO. ST. LOUIS.

CONDITION: 7+ (Very Fine+): Mug has light to moderate wear in spots, mostly in limited areas where gilt paint has worn away.
