ARTIFACT: This is a Beautiful Pre-World War II United States Army Cadet Corps Pilot (Solo?) Wing in the Orber Deco Pattern Engraved 8-30-40 Kelly Field.

Pilot's name Engraved, with possible Solo Date of August 30th, 1940, Presented to his girlfriend Shirley.

USAAF Combat Bomber Pilot Thomas J. Davis was an early WWII Pilot, having earned his wings pre-War at Kelly Field in Texas.

Originally from Piedmont Missouri, Davis soloed in 1940 at Kelly Field and found himself in the 99th Bomb Group, 15th Air Force, early on during the war.

Completing his harrowing 50th Mission in December of 1943, details in attached image from a veterans' publication in 1985, we can only hope that he found his way back to Shirley in the states and lived happily ever after!
