ARTIFACT: Beautiful circa 1900 Boston, Massachusetts Special Police Badge. The round badge is nicely detailed showing a large State Seal of Massachusetts in the center with embossed lettering around it that reads: "SPECIAL POLICE CITY OF BOSTON" and the base of the badge is numbered: "256" in black painted detail. The badge is by S.M. Spencer Manufacturing of Boston and the reverse reads: "Property of the City of Boston Police Department" on the rectangular saddle. This is lowest number we have had to offer!

VINTAGE: Circa 1900.

SIZE: Approximately 2-1/2"; x 2-1/4".

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Nickeled brass.

ATTACHMENT: Vertical pin with drop in locking catch.

MARKINGS: "S.M. SPENCER MFG. BOSTON" and "PROPERTY OF CITY OF BOSTON POLICE DEPT." on saddle

CONDITION: 8- (Very Fine—Excellent): The badge shows moderate to heavy wear, nearly all of the painted and plated details remain intact.
