Description
This is a large and beautiful official commemorative badge by C. Poellath of Schrobenhausen from the 1936 IV Winter Olympics. Garmisch, Germany, lies at the foot of the Alps and was joined with its neighbor Partenkirchen in order to make a new town for the 1936 Olympics venue. It afterward became the base camp for the elite "Edelweiss" troops, and in 1945, the ski town became a United States military garrison.
