Description
Beautiful Fairview, New Jersey Grandview Fire Company No. 1 Ex-Captain Badge from 1932 by Braxmar with a gorgeous gold-filled front. The top of the badge is an eagle, wings spread and head bowed, beneath reads: "EX CAPTAIN". The slightly convex center shows two fire horns in nice relief detail, the outer edge reads: "GRANDVIEW CO. NO. 1 1932 FAIRVIEW, F.D." in blue enamel detail and is surrounded by lovely wreath embellishments. The base of the badge shows an oval plate that reads: "C. M. G." for Charles M. Geiger. The reverse shows a nice maker's mark that reads: "THE C.G. BRAXMAR CO. 242 W. 55th ST. N.Y."
VINTAGE:Circa 1932.
SIZE:Approximately 2-1/2" in height x 1-3/4" in width.
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Gold fill, brass, hard fired blue enamel.
ATTACHMENT:Vertical pin with drop in forked catch, fork missing.

CONDITION:8+ (Excellent): The badge shows almost no wear and is lovely, if not for the fork on catch missing, we would grade this even higher. Overall excellent condition.
