Description
This is a beautiful circa 1930s United States Naval aviator ditty box, handmade and hand-decorated by the aviator himself. His name was G.B. Carr and he served at Guantanamo ("Gitmo") Bay, Cuba. The pine box has a dovetailed construction and is painted with large USN wings on the lid and USN aircraft markings on two sides. The box comes with its original key and is in excellent condition.
VINTAGE:Circa 1930s.
SIZE:Approximately 4-3/4" in height, 10-7/8" in length, 5-3/8" in depth.
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Handpainted pine wood, nickel-plated brass.
ATTACHMENT:Hinges, lock with original key.
