ARTIFACT:
This is a beautiful badge for the 28th Regiment of Tunisian Rifleman in gold and silver plated brass or bronze. The 28th was active with the French Army from 1914 through 1940. In 1939, the régiment served at Avignon as part of the 1st North African Division. The badge is a jackal framed by a golden crescent. Ceci est un badge beau pour le 28° Rgt de Tirailleurs Tunisiens en laiton ou bronze plaqué en or et argent. Le 28e a été active avec l'armée française de 1914 à 1940. En 1939, le régiment a servi à Avignon dans le cadre du 1e Division Nord-Africaine. Le badge est un chacal encadré par un croissant d'or.
VINTAGE:
Circa 1920s.
SIZE:
Approximately 1-3/4" in height and 1-3/8" in width. Environ 4.4 cm par 3.5 cm.
MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION:
Brass or bronze plated in gold and silver. Laiton ou bronze plaqué en or et argent.
ATTACHMENT:
Horizontal pin with C catch. Axe horizontal avec C attraper.
MARKINGS:
Small, illegible maker mark within square. Petit, fabricant de la marque illisibles dans un carré.

CONDITION:
7+ (Very Fine+): The badge shows only some small spots of light wear and tarnish; the reverse and pin have some very small spots of oxidation. 7+ (Très Beaux+): Le badge ne montre que quelques petites taches de lumière et de l'usure ternir; l'inverse et la broche avoir quelques taches d'oxydation très faible.
