Description
Beautiful 1915, WWI French "Day of the Trench Soldiers" donation medallion designed by Armand Bargas and depicts two soldiers on the field, one sounding his trench bugle and it reads: "Journee du Poilu 1915" meaning, "Hairy Days", a term of endearment describing the bearded French forces. The reverse reads: "25 - 26 Decembre", making it known as the Christmas medal. 'Journees' were nationwide days of donation and substantial contributions were rewarded with a medal to be worn as a display of one's support for the war effort.
