This is a beautiful circa 1870s fire badge for Steam Fire Engine No. 2, the George Y. Learned, of the Pittsfield Massachusetts Fire Department (P.F.D.). The badge is numbered 120 and has a great likeness of a steam fire engine in relief at its center. A "2" is in its own ornate medallion above the main shield-shaped body of the badge.
VINTAGE:Circa 1870s.
SIZE:Approximately 2-5/16" in height and 1-3/4" in width.
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Plated brass.
ATTACHMENT:Vertical kick pin with C catch.
MARKINGS:None.
