Description
This beautiful badge was exquisitely hand made by some unknown maker in the Mt. Vernon, NY area. The wreath and eagle are practically 3-dimensional. x000D The pictures do this badge no justice, as the badge is a bright yellow and rose gold, with bright hard fired translucent red enamel. x000D The panels and center seal are riveted to the badge. It is really a masterpiece. x000D x000D The Mount Vernon New York Fire Department has had a Fire Commissioner at the top of its chain of command since at least the 1920's, x000D and this badge surely dates from the earliest period of the Fire Commissioners' office. x000D x000D A work of art aesthetically, and a historically significant piece, from a New York City suburb, this badge would be a centerpiece of any Fire Collection.
