ARTIFACT: This is a first edition of "The 409th Infantry in World War II" by Sgt. William East and Private William F. Gleason. It is a unit history of the United States Army 409th Infantry Regiment that was published in 1947. The cover bears the unit's insignia and its motto, STEADFAST. Inside are some black and white illustrations and photos of the 409th's activities in the European Theatre of Operations. The 409th was part of the 103rd ("Cactus") Division.

VINTAGE: Circa 1947.

SIZE: 167 pages with photographs; approximately 9-3/16" in height and 6-1/8" in width and 1/2" in thickness.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Cloth-covered cover, paper.

ATTACHMENT: Glued binding.

MARKINGS: COPYRIGHT 1947 BY INFANTRY JOURNAL INC. FIRST EDITION PRINTED IN THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.

ITEM NOTES: This is from a United States Army collection which we will be listing more of over the next few months. CON-DB-25-13 LHEX3/13 SHEX11/20

CONDITION: 7 (Very Fine): The book has areas of discoloration to the cover, front and back; only a few pages have minor water staining to the edge (see last photo above). Otherwise only light aging with no rips or writing inside.
