This is a circa 1980s United States Navy USS Nimitz CVN-68 Investigator badge. Launched May 13, 1972, USS Nimitz CVN-68 (aka "Old Salt") is a supercarrier and leader of its class. It was named for World War II Fleet Admiral Chester W. Nimitz. The badge is numbered 7 and was made by Solomark Specialty Company of Norton, VA.
VINTAGE:Circa 1980s.
SIZE:Approximately 2-1/2" in height and 1-13/16" in width.
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Chrome-plated.
ATTACHMENT:Vertical kick pin with drop-in locking swivel catch.
MARKINGS:Solomark Specialty Company Norton, VA.
