Description

ARTIFACT:

This is a 1970s jacket patch made for the United States Navy Surface Missile Systems (SMS) squadron, which replaced the Sidewinder Missile Systems of the 1960s. The patch shows a wolf's head and a missile scanning the ocean. Patch reads SMS TARTAR.

VINTAGE:

Circa 1970s.

SIZE:

4" height and 3-5/8" width.

CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:

Silkscreen printed cotton patch with embroidered black border and muslin backing.

4- (Good&emdash;Very Good): Patch is intact but has a stain on front and reverse and moderate wear on edge.
