This is a 1970s jacket patch made for the United States Navy Surface Missile Systems (SMS) squadron, which replaced the Sidewinder Missile Systems of the 1960s. The patch shows a wolf's head and a missile scanning the ocean. Patch reads SMS TARTAR.
VINTAGE:Circa 1970s.
SIZE:4" height and 3-5/8" width.
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Silkscreen printed cotton patch with embroidered black border and muslin backing.
ITEM NOTES:This is from a United States Navy collection which we will be listing more of over the next few months. ebay RCX01 SBEX12/14
CONDITION:4- (Good&emdash;Very Good): Patch is intact but has a stain on front and reverse and moderate wear on edge.
