ARTIFACT:
This is a 1964 1st Edition United States Ship Thresher SSN 593 In Memoriam Cruise Book with Poignant letter to sister of Lost Sailor Templeman Norman Mabry Jr.
The Thresher, a nuclear submarine built at Portsmouth Naval Shipyard in 1960, sunk off Cape Cod on April 10, 1963, during deep-diving tests. The book lists all those who perished and has a photographic tribute to each: 129 dead, including 17 civilians. At the end of the book is the text of the eulogy at the memorial service and words of reflection by some of the bereaved.
VINTAGE:
First edition: April 1964.
SIZE:
146 pages with black and white photographs; approximately 10-1/2" in height and 8-1/8" in width and 5/8" in thickness. A4 size Poignant letter to sister of Lost Sailor Templeman Norman Mabry Jr.

Cloth-covered cover, paper.
