Description
This is a 1960s USS Guadalcanal, LPH-7 (assault loading craft, helicopter) Afloat M.A.A. (master at arms) badge. The Guadalcanal was launched from the Philadelphia Naval Shipyard in March 1963 and served 31 years. In addition to serving as a landing area the ship participated in spacecraft recovery for the Apollo 9 and Gemini 10 missions. The badge is numbered 15.
VINTAGE:Circa 1960s.
SIZE:Approximately 3-3/16" in height and 2-1/4" in width.
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Plated brass with painted lettering.
ATTACHMENT:Vertical pin with drop-in locking swivel catch.

CONDITION:7+ (Very Fine+): The badge shows some light wear and tarnish with some small spots of discoloration around the center of the badge.
