This is a circa 1960s pocket patch for the United States Navy USS Barbel (SS-580) submarine. Launched on July 19, 1958, the Barbel was constructed at Portsmouth Naval Shipyard in Kittery, Maine/Portsmouth, New Hampshire. She was decommissioned in 198The patch shows the ship in a dive beneath a pair of dolphins, and reads DEUS ET PATRIA (God and country).
VINTAGE:Circa 1960s.
SIZE:Approximately 5" in diameter.
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Fully embroidered in cotton/silk/polyester threads.
