Description

ARTIFACT:

This is a circa 1960 Long Beach Naval Shipyard worker activity pass card badge for E. L. Clayton. Long Beach, California was the location of a naval facility as early as 1943 but was renamed Long Beach Naval Shipyard in 1948 and closed in 199Clayton's vital statistics are listed on the badge, including his April 15, 1926 birth date, and it is signed by himself and a validating officer. The badge has four attached service, longevity and union lapel pins. On epin is by L. G. Balfour Co. and one is by J. A. Meyers Co. Inc.

VINTAGE:

Circa 1960.

SIZE:

Approximately 3-7/16" in height and 2-1/8" in width.

CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:

Badge: celluloid, paper, nickel-plated brass; lapel pins: gilt brass with enamel.

ATTACHMENT:

Badge: clip; lapel pins: single screw post with disc backing (each pin).

MARKINGS:

NO. 26566; PROPERTY OF THE UNITED STATES GOVERNMENT on badge; L. G. BALFOUR Co. on one pin backing and J. A. MEYERS & CO. INC. LOS ANGELES on another backing.
