ARTIFACT: This is a submarine jacket patch for the United States Navy's USS Thornback SS-418. The patch is circular and shows a killer whale-turned-submarine and reads SS 418 THORNBACK.

VINTAGE: Circa 1950s.

SIZE: 4" diameter.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Canvas patch embroidered in multi-colored silk/cotton threads with muslin backing.
